flash94

Group94 has a long history in Content Management and Flash. Our first Flash websites managed via a CMS (Content Management System) that was entirely built in Flash, date from 1999. Luckily these sites are no longer online but that's another story...
The technical possibilities have evolved since then, however our approach to content management is still the same: to make complex actions possible via a simple interface, allowing our clients to focus on the content and not the technology behind it. In our opinion the ultimate CMS doesn't need a user manual. Well: we think we're pretty close. Our previous website demonstrated the working of flash94 v1.0. This site uses v2.0, the next generation of flash94.

Rather than praising it's usability, and to make our point by means of video demo's, we decided to actually integrate our CMS into this site and allow visitors to experience it themselves. So we invite you to play around with it. Just start modifying the content and see what happens. Don't worry: obviously we don't allow you to actually save to the database and mess up our website. All your changes will temporarily be saved on your computer and will be lost once you refresh your browser, getting everything back to normal.

Enjoy!

This demo reflects the look and feel of flash94, but the actual flash94 CMS is never integrated in the website itself as in this demo. It is typically located on a hidden url and password protected. Hence it is accessible at all times and from all places.
This demo is full Flash (because it's integrated in this full Flash website) but the real thing is hybrid, combining html and Flash. Actually it makes use of Flash, xhtml, ajax, php and MySQL. It can be used for updating both Flash and html as hybrid websites. It is a modular system and always tailored according to specific site needs. This demo shows a limited set of modules (a date module, lists, a text editor, an image selection tool,... to name a few). There's others, and these 'building blocks' are actually combined exactly as required by each specific website. Nothing more, nothing less. Keep it simple...

The modular architecture offers two additional advantages. Firstly the CMS can easily be expanded in case the site gets modified or extended over time. Secondly it's straight forward to build and integrate specific modules to the CMS in case a website should have specific updateable functionality. As an example we've included a specific 'quotemaker' module to manage the quote tickers on the Lauren Greenfield website. Fontshop has a specific 'typetester' module to upload and manage the widgets on the website that allow testing new fonts.

Since the mechanics in all modules utilize the same logic, the look and feel for all modules is similar as well, which is a huge benefit regarding usability. Once you've understood one module, you've understood them all.

Finally it needs mentioning that the CMS has been developed in house. We don't make use of any third party code. This offers us full control over all aspects of the CMS and avoids the unexpected.

First of all: there is no package. We get a lot of requests in that regard but the flash94 CMS is NOT for sale as an out of the box package. Actually it's not even for sale as such. It has been developed as a service towards our clients, as a tool that would allow them to easily update their websites. It has never been our ambition to build a standalone package and put it online for sale.

As said before, tailoring is important to us. Each iteration of the CMS is being built according to specific project needs and it comes as part of the project. It can be deployed on every server that meets a standard level of requirements.

We don't inforce licensing: our clients are allowed to use the CMS without any restrictions in amount or time and don't have to pay any yearly fee as it appears to be often the case.

So yes. Since there's no commercial purpose whatsoever, this part of the site could be seen as showing off. But hey, allow us: we're very proud...
