Hybrid Solutions

The internet has become mature and the way people are using it is changing. The importance of search engines is increasing, hence being listed in search results is paramount. It is generally known that Flash content as such cannot be accessed by search bots, as opposed to plain html content. Until people at Adobe and the likes solve that issue, we are presented with a dilemma: on one hand Flash allows us to create these great multilayered experiences in a fluid interface without any technical restrictions. On the other hand only a html-based technology allows quickly allocating specific content on webpages. Unfortunately it offers a very one-dimensional navigational concept. It's not really 'funky' and that's an understatement. In some cases, when a project includes a lot of textual information that should be searchable, a hybrid approach can offer a solution. Basically it means inserting Flash multimedia content to a html-based site structure. The Flash modules on the pages bring extended functionality (expanding menu systems for instance) and allow the integration of rich media (slideshows, audio and video), whilst all typical html functionality is preserved as well (usage of browser buttons, bookmarking, sending pages to a friend, search engine indexing etc...). One could see it as best of both worlds.
